Look Mom, I'm a Brewer!
Since I am too impatient to wait for the local breweries to release their big pumpkin beers, I decided to do a little experiment to see if I could come up with something a little bolder than the pumpkiny but light-bodied beers out now. First, go to Marble and get a growler filled with their fantastic Imperial Red. Now, get yourself one of the pumpkin beers popping up around town. Note: Neither of the pumpkin beers pictured were harmed during this experiment. Instead, I used the Uinta Punk'n, which you can find in Albuquerque beer stores. Mix approximately two-thirds of your glass with the pumpkin beer along with one-third Marble Imperial Red. Stir. Drink. Repeat. Get crazy: line the rim of the glass with cinnamon sugar, snort some nutmeg, then forget about the glass and just chug the growler of Red. Get wasted and throw pumpkins at passing cars. Being a brewer is fun!

more like look mom, i'm a blender. creative nonetheless.
Hey, don't be jealous of my talents.
Just because I didn't mash and boil and strain and rack and dry-hop and keg doesn't mean I didn't break a sweat stirring.
Nice choices on the pumpkin brews. I've got some Weyerbacher and Dogfish Head filling up my fridge at the moment as well. Kudos on your pour from Sam himself, btw.
Thanks Ryan, I thought that was a pretty cool moment. I'm a big fan of Weyerbacher beers. I also have a XIII Anniversary and a Blithering Idiot Barleywine from them in the fridge. Am sure I will be drinking some of their Double Simcoe while out of town this week.
Double Simcoe is the one I picked up while back East. Good stuff, if you like Simcoe (which I do).
Where have you found your pumpkin beers? Jubilation had a very limited selection but did have Shipyard at 10.99 for a 6 pack. I'm on the hunt for better deals with a bit more pumpkin taste.
Laura- good luck. Shipyard makes a pumpkin beer that is great called Smashed Pumpkin, but we don't get it. And $10.99 is just too much to pay for the regular Shipyard Pumpkin.
I think you just have to wait for the local breweries to release their pumpkin beers. If you are a Marble member, that is where you will get the best price, at around $6.75 a growler.
